Froydis Ree Wekre

is a pedagogical icon of horn world. She studied with Wilhelm Lanzky – Otto in Stockholm, Vitalij Boujanovsky in St. Petersburg, James Stamp and Arnold Jacobs in the USA. She was for many years a hornist at Den Norske Operas and Oslo Philharmoniske Oskester. She was a horn professor at the University of California and the California Institute of the Arts. For 20 years she has been a professor of horn and chamber music at the High School of Music in her hometown Oslo. Recognized all over the world as a perfect teacher, but also as a chamber musician and soloist. Her book, „Thoughts on playing the Horn well” is translated into 9 languages, also she has recorded albums for such publishers as Simax, Crystal and 2L. Many compositions have been created especially for her. Her students play in professional orchestras in many countries. She received the Lindeman Award and the Culture of the City of Oslo.
