Edgar Manyak

Was born in 1967 into a musical family in Hermannstadt, Rumania. At the age of ten he already started playing the trombone. He was a student of Prof. Johann Doms and Prof. Branimir Slokar in Freiburg im Breisgau and Berlin. During his studies he very successfully participated in various international competitions such as „Prager Frühling“. He then concentrated on his solo and chamber music projects. For over ten years he was a member of Slokar-Trombone Quartet. In 1996 he joined the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin (Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra) as its Solo-Trombone. In 2005 he also held the same position for one season in the Staatskapelle Dresden. He also regularly performs as a guest of the Brass Ensemble Ludwig Güttler. As part of a close cooperation with the instrument company of Kühnl & Hoyer he plays a bass trumpet which was specifically developped for him. Besides being a Professor for trombone in Basel he regularly gives masterclasses and solo-concerts in Germany, Switzerland, China and Japan.
